This Halloween we hosted our annual Hallowmeme Grams Fundraiser. Our team had a lot of fun creating and delivering the treats. We ended up having our most successful gram fundraiser yet, raising over $400 for the American Liver Foundation!

We hope everyone has had a wonderful summer break! To start off the school year, we held a new member recruitment event during which we discussed our chapter's activities and met with potential new members. Additionally, in honor of Liver Cancer Awareness Month, attendees of the event took headshots with Hep B awareness signs, which were later posted on Facebook. So proud of these recent graduates of the Team HBV family, both bound for UCSF School of Medicine in the fall. We can't wait to see how they continue to improve healthcare by serving those in need. To see why we're so excited about their futures, click on their photos to check out what they've been up to for the past few years:
Our last group bonding event was over Korean tofu soup and boba! It's been an awesome year with Team HBV and we've had such an amazing time expanding our collaborations, putting on so many fun and unique campus events, and engaging with the community at large!
Congratulations to next year's Board <3 Team HBV Love, Star and Vivian (Co-Chairs 2017-2018) We had distinguished guest speakers and medical experts Dr. Ray Kim and Dr. Yee Hui Yeo to educate the student community about the importance of hepatitis B awareness. To watch the documentary Be About It, visit this link! We taught a class on hepatitis B virology, epidemiology, and public health to enthusiastic high schoolers from around the Bay Area!
In partnership with Cardinal Nights! Team HBV's Plushie-Making Event was held on Thursday February 12th in Old Union 200. Around 40 Stanford students came to the event with friends to make cute plushies. There was a large assortment of food, from brie cheese to sugar cookies, and everyone was gathered around the couches in Old Union cutting felt, stuffing their plushies, and sewing their plushies together. We also handed out pamphlets describing Team HBV and it's general mission to all attendees. This was a spectacular social event to combine HBV awareness with Stanford's student community. In collaboration with Lambda Phi Epsilon, we talked about general hepatitis B facts and informed people on the importance of testing over a dinner and discussion event! Our quarterly fundraisers for 2016/2017 involved raising money for hepatitis B and liver foundations through creating and delivering memegrams to students during finals season!
We presented a workshop, "Starting the API Health Conversation", on approaching sensitive health topics at the 2017 Team HBV International Collegiate Conference, held at the Asian Liver Center! Chapters from all over attended and it was awesome to meet each other and see the diverse activities of each group.
We partnered with Cardinal Nights to put on a Valentine's HBV Plushie-Making event, where people made their own viral plushies as a way to destress and learn about hepatitis B.
